{"id":1058,"date":"2015-11-09T11:00:19","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T11:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.openhandsinitiative.org\/blog\/?p=1058"},"modified":"2018-05-07T20:35:54","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T20:35:54","slug":"a-special-guest-to-inspire-our-women-entrepreneurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.openhandsinitiative.org\/blog\/a-special-guest-to-inspire-our-women-entrepreneurs\/","title":{"rendered":"A Special Guest to Inspire Our Women Entrepreneurs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Open Hands Initiative is honored to have had a very special guest join its group of 20 women entrepreneurs from Jordan and the United States for an evening of conversation in Amman, Jordan during the \u201c<span style=\"color: #068676;\"><a style=\"color: #068676;\" href=\"http:\/\/openhandsinitiative.org\/projectAreas\/womensEntrepreneurship.html\">Fellowship for Young Women Entrepreneurs<\/a><\/span>\u201c. Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the Jordan-based <span style=\"color: #068676;\"><a style=\"color: #068676;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.khcf.jo\/section\/message-director-general\">King Hussein Cancer Foundation<\/a> <\/span>(KHCF), a preeminent independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit institution dedicated to combat cancer in Jordan and the Middle East region, had some poignant remarks to share with fellows, including thoughts on what it means to be a leader\u2013for both a cause and a community.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Princess\u2019s words stirred powerful reactions by the Jordanian fellows in particular, who upon hearing her remarks, were empowered to share with the group their\u00a0deep\u00a0pride for their country and culture. They not only recognized her role, but also their\u00a0responsibility as leaders in their community to serve as role models for the next\u00a0generation\u2014a task which many already have embarked on, mentoring new entrepreneurs and helping build capacity for women startup founders.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to speaking about how to balance the many demands and responsibilities of one\u2019s professional\u00a0and personal life, Her Royal Highness touched on an important topic for Open Hands Initiative\u2013the need to\u00a0overcome misunderstanding and build up bonds across borders.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;With all that is happening in the world at the moment, international perception of our region is changing &#8211; leaving us with many barriers and misunderstandings that are drawing an invisible rift in our communication\u00a0endeavors. In a way when media would have been our strongest\u00a0connector, it has ironically deepened the division, created separation and\u00a0formed a major impediment in intercultural dialogue.
