Journeys through Myanmar: Departure Day

On a sunny Sunday morning, the remaining teams of fellows departed on their journeys across Myanmar to uncover the country’s most fascinating stories of transition.

One team remains in Yangon, but luckily, have a bright, clear day on which to start their reporting. Another team heads to cover the capitals–starting in the ancient city of Bagan and winding up in Naypyidaw, the current seat of government. The third team hops to Heho, where they will begin their journey through the ethnic villages that call Inle Lake their home. A fourth and final team treks to the delta region, which is the country’s prime source of agriculture, and the area which was most affected by Cyclone Nargis in 2008.
